1. Overview

Lift Bridge Furniture allows sellers to (a) accept payment by authorized credit and debit card transactions, PayPal, transactions using Apple Pay, and transactions using Android Pay, (b) have those funds credited to a seller’s Lift Bridge Furniture account, and (c) have those funds deposited into a seller’s Paypal account.

Lift Bridge Furniture only accepts sellers who are at least 18 years old who register and are approved to join Lift Bridge Furniture’s maker team. Lift Bridge Furniture’s maker team is currently available to sellers in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and United States.

Sellers may only use Lift Bridge Furniture for the sale of items listed on Lift Bridge Furniture’s Services, and agree to build and ship sold items once a payment transaction is complete and reflected in their Lift Bridge Furniture account. Lift Bridge Furniture reserves the right to terminate a seller’s account if the seller uses Lift Bridge Furniture’s Services in any other manner.

Buyers may authorize a payment with any major credit or debit card accepted by Lift Bridge Furniture, by certain bank transfer services, or through PayPal, Apple Pay, or Android Pay.

2. Lift Bridge Furniture’s Rights and Responsibilities

Lift Bridge Furniture’s selling functionality may be made available, modified, or discontinued by us at any time without notice and is subject to the limitations in Lift Bridge Furniture’s Terms of Use.

As a security measure, we may impose transaction limits on buyers and sellers. For example, we may impose limits relating to the value of any transaction, deposit, or adjustment, or limits relating to the cumulative value of all transactions, deposits, or adjustments during a period of time. We may also impose limits related to the number of transactions per day or other period of time. We will not be liable to a seller: (a) if we do not proceed with a transaction, deposit, or adjustment that would exceed any limit established by us, or (b) if we permit a buyer to withdraw from a transaction.

Lift Bridge Furniture may refuse service to anyone, for any reason, at any time.

Lift Bridge Furniture reserves the right to decline transactions that we believe to be high risk, fraudulent, or in violation of Lift Bridge Furniture’s Terms of Use.

In the event that a buyer does not make payment for the purchase of a legitimate item sold using Lift Bridge Furniture’s marketplace (e.g., where the buyer used a stolen or unauthorized credit card), Lift Bridge Furniture may provide limited payment protection to the seller, in the interest of fairness. You can learn more about our Seller Protection Policy here.

Lift Bridge Furniture maintains records associated with transactions on Lift Bridge Furniture’s marketplace and does not pass any secure data, including credit card numbers or bank account information to any sellers. Sellers will only receive shipping information and limited buyer account information necessary to complete the order. Lift Bridge Furniture’s Privacy Policy further explains how Lift Bridge Furniture handles user information.

3. What Can be Sold on Lift Bridge Furniture

Buyers come to Lift Bridge Furniture to purchase furniture, furniture parts, and other handmade items that are made by independent Makers. Everything listed for sale by independent Makers on Lift Bridge Furniture must be handmade and must be related to and based from one or more Lift Bridge Furniture designs.

A Maker is an independent seller who is physically making the items listed for sale in their Lift Bridge Furniture shop. Makers must be making their items with their own hands (or tools).

A Designer is a seller who has come up with an original design, pattern, sketch, template, prototype, or plan to be produced by other Makers in the Lift Bridge Furniture community. Simple customization, such as selecting colors, shapes, or choosing from ready-made options is not considered design on Lift Bridge Furniture.  Not all submitted designs are accepted for inclusion in the Lift Bridge Furniture marketplace.  All designs that are submitted to Lift Bridge Furniture are examined for their sales potential, manufacturing complexity, and other factors. Lift Bridge Furniture reserves the right to accept new designs into the marketplace at it’s sole discretion.

Handmade Items

Handmade Items are items that are made by you, the seller. You, the seller, must be making your handmade items. Reselling is prohibited. Reselling is selling an item that you, the seller, did not make.

If you sell handmade items, you agree that:

  1. All handmade items are made by you and designed by the Lift Bridge Furniture community. You are welcome to make slight modifications to the original design to set your product offerings apart from other Lift Bridge Furniture Makers, but each product that you offer must be primarily based off the original design.  For the most part, this means that you can offer different wood, finishing, and size options as long as it’s obvious that your product listing is still based off an original Lift Bridge Furniture design.
  2. You accurately describe every person involved in the making of an item in your shop in your About section.
  3. You are using your own photographs or photographs that are supplied by Lift Bridge Furniture — not stock photos, artistic renderings, or photos used by other sellers or sites.
  4. You will not list a product that you have designed without getting approval from Lift Bridge Furniture first. All new designs that are brought into the marketplace must be approved by Lift Bridge Furniture and plans must be made so that other Lift Bridge Furniture Makers can build from your design. If approved, Lift Bridge Furniture will work with you to produce build plans for our marketplace.  As the original designer, you will receive a percentage of each sale within our marketplace every time your design is used. Please see the Fees & Payouts Policy for more details.

If you are selling custom items, you agree that:

  1. All custom item listings are available for purchase.
  2. Each custom listing has a set price.
  3. If you are using photographs of previous work with options for customization (like color choices) included in the listing, it is clear in your description that the photos shown are just examples.

4. What Can’t be Sold on Lift Bridge Furniture

Even if they otherwise meet our handmade criteria, prohibited items and services are not allowed to be sold on Lift Bridge Furniture. Prohibited items include:

  1. Items that are not related to a Lift Bridge Furniture approved design
  2. Alcohol, Tobacco, Drugs, Drug Paraphernalia, and Medical Drugs
  3. Animal Products and Human Remains
  4. Dangerous Items: Hazardous Materials, Recalled Items, and Weapons
  5. Hate Items: Items that Promote, Support, or Glorify Hatred
  6. Illegal Items, Items Promoting Illegal Activity, and Highly Regulated Items
  7. Internationally Regulated Items
  8. Pornography and Mature Content
  9. Violent Items: Items that Promote, Support, or Glorify Violence

Reselling is not allowed on Lift Bridge Furniture. Reselling refers to listing an item as handmade when you were not involved in making that item.

Keep in mind that members may flag listings that appear to violate our policies for Lift Bridge Furniture’s review.

Lift Bridge Furniture may remove any listings that violate our policies. Lift Bridge Furniture may also suspend or terminate your account for any violations. You’ll still be on the hook to pay any outstanding fees on your Lift Bridge Furniture bill. You can find more information in our Fees & Payouts Policy.

5. Where Lift Bridge Furniture Can be Sold

The Lift Bridge Furniture marketplace encompasses a unique offering of furniture designs that are built and sold by independent Makers. In an effort to maintain fairness between sellers, and add value to all Lift Bridge Furniture items, you agree that you will not sell Lift Bridge Furniture items outside of the marketplace web site.  Completing a commercial transaction of an item that is built from a Lift Bridge Furniture design, outside of the Lift Bridge Furniture online marketplace, is a direct violation of this agreement and we may permanently revoke your buying and selling privileges if found to be in violation of this agreement. If a customer contacts you directly to place an order, you are expected to ask the customer to submit a new order through your store on  Only if you are the original designer of the piece, you may sell your design outside of the Lift Bridge Furniture marketplace as it pertains to your non-exclusive license with Lift Bridge Furniture.

Keep in mind that members may report other members that violate our policies for Lift Bridge Furniture’s review.

6. Representing Yourself, Your Shop, and Your Listings Honestly

At Lift Bridge Furniture, we value transparency. Transparency means that you honestly and accurately represent yourself, your items, and your business.

By selling on Lift Bridge Furniture, you agree that you will:

  1. Provide honest, accurate information in your About section.
  2. Honor your Shop Policies.

  5. Not engage in fee avoidance.
  6. Not create duplicate shops.
  7. Not coordinate pricing with other sellers.

7. Privacy and Communicating with Other Lift Bridge Furniture Members

A conversation is any communication that you have with a buyer, seller, or Lift Bridge Furniture member.

You can use email, telephone, or any messaging tools on to communicate directly with your buyers. You might need to have a conversation with a buyer so that they can ask you questions about an item or an order.

Conversations may not be used for the following activities:

  1. Sending unsolicited advertising or promotions, requests for donations, or spam;
  2. Harassing or abusing another member or violating our Anti-Discrimination Policy;
  3. Contacting someone after they have explicitly asked you not to; or
  4. Interfering with a transaction or the business of another member.

Interference occurs when a member intentionally interferes with another member’s shop in order to drive away their business. Interference is strictly prohibited on Lift Bridge Furniture. Examples of interference include:

  1. Contacting another member via Lift Bridge Furniture Conversations to warn them away from a particular member, shop, or item;
  2. Posting in public areas to demonstrate or discuss a dispute with another member;
  3. Purchasing from a seller for the sole purpose of leaving a negative review;

Any use of Lift Bridge Furniture conversations to harass other members is strictly prohibited.  If you are involved in a conversation with a member that violates this policy, please let us know right away.

Privacy and Protecting Personal Information

You are responsible for protecting members’ and buyer’s personal information you receive or process. This means that, to the extent you use the Services outside of the Sites or Apps, or to the extent your local jurisdiction requires it, you must maintain a privacy policy for your shop that is consistent with the privacy terms set forth in Lift Bridge Furniture’s Terms of Use (including this Seller Policy) and Lift Bridge Furniture’s Privacy Policy. Such laws may require that you post, and comply with, your own privacy policy, which must be accessible to Lift Bridge Furniture members or buyers you interact with and compatible with this policy and Lift Bridge Furniture’s Terms of Use.

When you sell on Lift Bridge Furniture, you may communicate with other members or have transactions with buyers. This means you may process personal information (for example, buyer name, email address, and shipping address) and may be considered an independent and separate “data controller” under EU law or other local regulations. If you disclose personal information like a buyer’s name and email address without the buyer’s consent, you are responsible for that unauthorized disclosure.

For example, you may receive a buyer’s email address or other information as a result of entering into a transaction with that buyer. This information may only be used for Lift Bridge Furniture-related communications or for Lift Bridge Furniture-facilitated transactions. You may not use this information for unsolicited commercial messages or unauthorized transactions. Without the buyer’s consent, and subject to other applicable Lift Bridge Furniture policies and laws, you may not add any Lift Bridge Furniture member to your email or physical mailing list, use that buyer’s identity for marketing, or obtain or retain any payment information. Please bear in mind that you’re responsible for knowing the standard of consent required in any given instance.

8. Creating and Uploading Content

As a member of Lift Bridge Furniture, you have the opportunity to create and upload a variety of content, like listings, text, photos, and videos. In order to keep our community safe and respectful, you agree that you will not upload content that is:

  2. Obscene or vulgar;
  3. In violation of someone else’s privacy or intellectual property rights; or
  4. False, deceptive, or misleading.

9. Building a Positive Reputation Through our Reviews System

Reviews are a great way for you to build a reputation on Lift Bridge Furniture. Buyers can leave a review, including a one to five star rating, after purchase of your item.

On the rare occasion you receive an unfavorable review, you can reach out to the buyer and see if there is something that can be done to remedy the situation. If you are able to remedy the situation and convince the buyer to retract their negative review, the buyer may contact us and request to have their review deleted so that they can leave a new review.

Reviews may not:

  1. Contain private information;
  2. Contain obscene, racist, or harassing language or imagery;
  3. Contain prohibited medical drug claims;
  4. Contain advertising or spam;
  5. Be about things outside the seller’s control, such as a shipping carrier, Lift Bridge Furniture or a third party; or
  6. Undermine the integrity of the Reviews system.

Extortion is not allowed on Lift Bridge Furniture. Any attempt to manipulate reviews through threats, intimidation, or bribery is considered extortion and is strictly prohibited on Lift Bridge Furniture. Extortion includes when a seller offers a buyer additional goods, services, or compensation in exchange for a positive review.

Shilling is strictly prohibited on Lift Bridge Furniture. Shilling is the fraudulent inflation of a shop’s reputation by use of an alternate account. The intent of shilling is to make a seller look more desirable by increasing the shop’s number of sales and overall review score. Not only does it violate our core value of transparency, but it is considered to be a deceptive business practice by the US Federal Trade Commission. Reviews must reflect the honest, unbiased opinions, findings, beliefs, or experience of the buyer.

10. Providing Great Customer Service

We expect our sellers to provide a high level of customer service. By selling on Lift Bridge Furniture, you agree to:

  1. Guarantee your craftsmanship and offer a minimum two-month warranty (you can offer a longer warranty if you like in your shop policies) on any manufacturing or material defects with your products. This warranty is limited to normal use of your products and does not cover damage due to excessive or improper use. You must agree to repair or replace any manufacturing or material defects during this two-month warranty period at your (the Maker’s) discretion.

    Your warranty may exclude the following conditions:

    • Damage identified as carrier or installer related (unless you are the installer)
    • Normal wear and tear of wood products during course of ownership
    • Color, grain, or texture of natural wood materials, laminates, and other covering materials
    • Damages or failures resulting from misuse, abuse, negligence, improper care, modifications, or relocation.
    • “Ghost” indentations and similar damage caused by the failure to use appropriate desk or writing pads.
    • Damages to seating products caused by contact with tables, desks, or other surfaces.
    • Textiles (which may be subject to a separate warranty from the textile manufacturer)

    All warranty claims are subject to Maker-approved inspections.

  2. Honor your shipping and processing times. Sellers are obligated to ship an item or otherwise complete a transaction with a buyer in a prompt manner, unless there is an exceptional circumstance. Please be aware that legal requirements for shipping times vary by country. These requirements are detailed in our Shipping Policy.
  3. Respond to Conversations in a timely manner.
  4. Honor the commitments you make in your shop policies.
  5. Resolve disagreements or disputes directly with the buyer and in accordance with this policy and our Terms of Use. In the unlikely event that you can’t reach a resolution, please contact us and we will do our best to help reach a resolution. In the event that a dispute is escalated to Lift Bridge Furniture’s Support Team, Lift Bridge Furniture reserves the right to issue a refund to a buyer if a transaction is found to be in violation of Lift Bridge Furniture’s Maker Policy and Terms of Use.
  6. If you are unable to complete an order, you must notify the buyer, cancel, and refund the order.  To refund an order, please contact us.
  7. Read about how to cancel an order in this Help article.

Lift Bridge Furniture will help you provide great customer service and maintain trust with your buyers. We monitor shop performance by evaluating orders that don’t go as planned. We review accounts by considering cases, low reviews, and general buyer complaints on an individual basis. We also make determinations based on the level of customer service provided.

Lift Bridge Furniture also provides limited protection to sellers who meet the requirements of our Seller Protection Policy. Read more about our Seller Protection Policy here.

Expectations of sellers

When reviewing accounts, we investigate various factors that most commonly result in poor buyer experiences. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Non-delivery cases. A buyer may file this type of case if the order was not shipped within the listed processing time. The buyer may also file a non-delivery case if they contacted a seller about their order but didn’t receive a sufficient response.
  • Not-as-described cases. This type of case may include—but isn’t limited to—items received that are materially different from the listing description and photos, partial non-delivery of an order, or non-delivery of a replacement item.
  • Low reviews (1 or 2 stars). A low review may be an indicator that a buyer had a disappointing experience, or that there may still be an outstanding issue with their order. Low reviews can ultimately hurt a shop’s reputation.
  • Orders canceled without buyer communication or consent. We may find a cancellation cause for concern if it occurs without communication from the seller, or after the scheduled “ship by” date has passed.
  • Chargebacks. When a buyer disputes a purchase charged to their bank account or credit card company, we conduct a thorough investigation. We may require additional information from the seller to resolve a chargeback dispute to determine whether the seller or Lift Bridge Furniture will absorb the liability for the chargeback. The seller agrees to provide any requested information to us within five calendar days of the request. Lift Bridge Furniture reserves the right to recoup funds associated with buyer chargebacks.

Our involvement

If a seller with a good track record suddenly experiences these types of issues, we may get in touch with recommendations to help minimize these issues.

If a shop falls below our expectations or displays a pattern of customer service issues, we’ll reach out via email to discuss the next steps. We may remove a shop from our search results or suspend certain privileges until it’s in good standing.

If a member continues to fall below our Service Level Standards or has consistently failed to demonstrate the level of customer service we expected, we may elect to permanently revoke their buying and selling privileges.

11. Responding to Requests for Cancellations, Returns, and Exchanges

Please be aware that in addition to this policy, each country has its own laws surrounding shipping, cancellations, returns, and exchanges. Please familiarize yourself with the laws of your own country and those of your buyers’ countries.

European Union Right of Withdrawal
Buyers in the European Union (EU) may be entitled to a 14-day “right of withdrawal” after receiving an item, during which they may return an item for any reason. The details of this right vary by EU member state. The right of withdrawal does not apply to custom items or certain perishable goods. Rights with respect to digital items vary by EU member state.

If you are unable to complete a transaction, you must notify the buyer and notify Lift Bridge Furniture to cancel the transaction. If the buyer already submitted payment, you must send a request to Lift Bridge Furniture to issue a full refund. If you already received a payout for the order from Lift Bridge Furniture, you must return the full payout amount back to Lift Bridge Furniture so that a full refund can be issued. You are encouraged to keep proof of any refunds or payout returns in the event a dispute arises.

You may cancel a transaction under the following circumstances:

  1. The buyer did not pay. (The seller or Lift Bridge Furniture may flag a buyer for a payment not received, chargeback, or canceled payment.)
  2. Both you and the buyer agree to cancel the transaction prior to shipment, and you have coordinated with Lift Bridge Furniture to issue a full refund, including shipping and sales tax.
  3. You have decided to refuse service to the buyer. If the buyer has already paid, you must also coordinate with Lift Bridge Furniture to issue a full refund, including shipping and sales tax.
  4. The buyer did not receive the item(s) ordered, even though you provided proof of shipping, and you have coordinated with Lift Bridge Furniture to issue a full refund.
  5. Both you and the buyer agreed that the buyer could return the item for a refund, you have received the returned item and have coordinated with Lift Bridge Furniture to issue a refund.

Lift Bridge Furniture’s Case System
We ask buyers to contact a seller directly and attempt to resolve any outstanding issues before opening a case on Lift Bridge Furniture. For this reason, it is important that you fill out your shop policies and regularly respond to all communications from your buyers.

Buyers may file a case for a non-delivery or a not-as-described item. You must respond to any open cases within five calendar days of the request. By selling on, you understand that Lift Bridge Furniture may use your personal information for the purpose of resolving disputes with other buyers. Cases can be filed in the following circumstances:

A non-delivery occurs when a buyer places an order and submits payment, but does not receive the item. The following are examples of non-delivery cases:

  1. An item was never sent.
  2. An item was not sent to the address provided on Lift Bridge Furniture.
  3. There is no proof that the item was shipped to the buyer’s address.

Not as Described
An item is not as described if it is materially different from your listing description or your photos. The following are examples of not as described cases:

  1. The item received is a different color, model, version, or size than is shown in the photo or described in the listing.
  2. The item has a different design or material.
  3. The item was advertised as authentic but is not authentic.
  4. You failed to disclose the fact that an item is damaged or is missing parts.
  5. A buyer purchased three items but only received two.
  6. The condition of the item is misrepresented. For example, the description at the time of purchase said the item was “new” and the item is used.

Not as Described cases can also be filed for late delivery. In order to qualify as late delivery, the buyer must provide proof that all of these conditions have been met:

  1. The item(s) were ordered for a specific date or event.
  2. The item(s) are rendered useless after that date.
  3. The seller did not ship the item(s) according to their processing time or the date agreed upon in Conversations.

If Lift Bridge Furniture determines that an item is not as described, you will be required to refund the original shipping and return shipping, in addition to the cost of the item.

Ineligible Transactions

Some disputes don’t qualify for Lift Bridge Furniture’s case system. These include:

  1. Items that have been purchased in person or outside of the web site.
  2. Intangible items, services, or prohibited items.
  3. Transactions where payment is not made through the web site.
  4. Items that are returned without a return agreement.
  5. Items that have been altered, used, worn, or damaged after receiving them.
  6. Physical or tangible items that are not available for return because they have been destroyed or discarded by the buyer.
  7. Items that are received after the agreed-upon delivery date due to shipping delays.
  8. Cost of shipping disputes.

When a dispute is ineligible for our case system, we encourage both parties to work together to come to an amicable solution.

12. Appointment of Lift Bridge Furniture as Limited Collection Agent for Sellers

Each seller appoints Lift Bridge Furniture as its agent for the limited purpose of receiving, holding and settling payments to seller. Lift Bridge Furniture will settle payments that are actually received by Lift Bridge Furniture to each seller, less any amounts owed to Lift Bridge Furniture and subject to these Terms and the Fees & Payouts Policy. Each seller agrees that a buyer payment received by Lift Bridge Furniture, on behalf of seller, satisfies the buyer’s obligations to make payment to seller, regardless of whether Lift Bridge Furniture actually settles such payment to seller. If Lift Bridge Furniture does not settle any such payments as described in these Terms to a seller, such seller will have recourse only against Lift Bridge Furniture and not the buyer.
